Nothing Personal is built so that your documents never leave your computer. This page lists everything that does leave it, and what this website collects.

Who I am

Nothing Personal is made and sold by Sergey Petrov, an individual developer. Write to sergey@goodit.works about anything on this page.

Your documents

  • Documents are read, redacted and written only on your computer. They are never uploaded, to me or to anyone else.
  • The app has no account, and it collects no analytics or telemetry.
  • The key that makes the stand-ins and, with Pro, the list of real names and their stand-ins are kept on your computer: on a Mac in ~/Library/Application Support/Nothing Personal/, on Windows in %APPDATA%\Nothing Personal\.

When the app goes online

For two things on a Mac and one on Windows. None of them sends your documents or anything in them.

  • Your licence. When you activate, check or deactivate a Pro licence, the app sends your licence key, an identifier of your computer (derived from its hardware ID, salted and hashed) and the computer’s name, which shows in your device list, to Amore, the service that issues and checks licences. If you buy Pro from inside the Windows app, it also asks Amore to start a checkout and then checks every few seconds whether it has been paid, so it can turn Pro on by itself; the payment page opens in your browser. Amore already knows your email address from the purchase.
  • Updates. On a Mac, the app checks for new versions with Sparkle, from Amore’s update feed. The request carries the app version and what any web request carries, such as your IP address. The Windows app doesn’t check for updates: you download new versions from this site.

Nothing else. With Wi-Fi off, redaction works exactly the same.

Feedback

Request a feature and Report a problem open an email in your own mail app. Nothing is sent until you send it, and I receive only what you write and attach. I use it to answer you and to improve the app.

Buying Pro

Payment goes through Amore’s checkout and is processed by Stripe. I never see your card details. Amore emails you the licence key and runs the customer portal, where you manage your computers and your subscription. I can see your email address, what you bought and the state of your licence, so I can help with a refund or a lost key.

This website

np.sergeybaus.com is hosted on Vercel and uses PostHog in its cookieless mode to count page views and link clicks, including download links. It records the page and destination addresses, referrer and campaign tags, browser, operating system and device type. It stores no cookies or identifiers in your browser. PostHog processes these events in its US Cloud and counts visitors using a server-generated hash that changes daily. This website and my other sites share one analytics project. There are no ads or session recordings, and fonts are served from this site. Vercel and PostHog receive your IP address when they handle requests; PostHog removes it from cookieless events after hashing it. This website analytics does not measure use of the desktop app or read your documents.

What I don’t do

I don’t sell personal data, share it for advertising, or use it for anything except selling and supporting Nothing Personal.

Your data, your call

Write to sergey@goodit.works to see what I have about you, to correct it or to have it deleted.

Changes

If this policy changes, the new version is posted here with a new date.
